Christine Ren, M.D., is the leading lap-band surgeon in the United States. She has performed over 1,300 lap-band procedures, more than any other surgeon in the country. Drs. Fielding, Ren and colleagues are leading a study on the effectiveness of gastric lap-band surgery in morbidly obese adolescents.
HOPE faculty members include scientists and clinicians from a broad range of disciplines, departments and schools throughout New York University. Our faculty members have expertise in child and adolescent development, nutrition, family and school interventions, brain development, mental health, physical health and public health. Faculty represent the fields of child psychiatry, pediatrics, surgery, nutrition, nursing and public health. Such an interdisciplinary team is necessary to identify and disseminate scientific and practical solutions to childhood obesity.
