Laurie Miller Brotman, Ph.D., is the founding and current Director of the Institute for Prevention Science at the NYU Child Study Center. She is also the Corzine Family Associate Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Miller Brotman is the first prevention scientist in the country with an endowed chair in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry.

Dr. Miller Brotman's work focuses on the development and prevention of conduct problems. She has been the principal investigator on four federally-funded prevention trials and co-investigator on two prospective longitudinal studies of the development of conduct problems. She is currently the principal investigator on a ten-year, National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded study with preschool-aged siblings of juvenile delinquents, and a study of ParentCorps, a prevention program involving public schools and communities to promote social and academic competence and prevent conduct problems in preschoolers living in socio-economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Dr. Miller Brotman earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Developmental Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed a NIMH post-doctoral research fellowship in the Division of Child Psychiatry at New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University.

Dr. Miller Brotman is currently on the Board of Directors of the Society for Prevention Research. Her work has been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology, the Journal of Clinical Child Psychology, and the Journal of Family Psychology.
